American Express Credit Card

The credit card has changed the shape of shopping in today’s world. It’s no joke trying to order tickets for the theatre without your American Express credit card, if like me you have cancelled it. Without that credit card, I was unable to join the local gym, to order t-shirts off of the Internet, to reserve a plane ticket online - and that is just a few of the basics. It wasn’t that long ago when cash spoke volumes, but not anymore.

It’s now normal almost everywhere in the world to use your Mastercard, Visa or American Express to pay for goods or services you may not even need with money they do not have. Although American Express credit cards are a really convenient way to make a purchase - get it now and worry about it tomorrow - it does come at a heavy cost. In some places, credit card debt is spiraling out of control. I am not joking when I say that credit card borrowing is probably the biggest problem facing Americans today.

It is for this reason I cancelled my American Express credit card. The problem was it was too easy just hand over my card and buy things without seeing the money being spent. Everything went onto my card and it didn’t take long before debt went out of control. I was dealing with a debt that I could not possibly pay, and I was in a state of panic.

Repaying my debt wasn’t easy and it took the help of a debt refinancing service to put me back on track. The whole situation was a nightmare. The hardship was worth it though because I am now debt free and my American Express credit card is no more. Don’t think I am making excuses when I blame my credit card because you are not taking into account basic human psychology.

You have more control when you see the cash actually coming out of your pocket. As I said before, credit cards make the cost of things misleading because you don’t take any notice. Just handing the card over time and time again, it is almost addictive. Now there is no American Express credit card; so no problem.
